Did Christ take up a sword?
How about St Stephen?
Peter?
Paul?
How dare Christians behave like their Lord, or his closest followers!!
The Roman martyrs?
Bunch of cucks. What did they have to show for it? Aside from, you know, eternal life and the conversion of the world's greatest empire.
Nope. Can't leave anything to God. That'd be acting in faith.
Christ also was a virgin. Are you a virgin? The Bible is clear in a few areas that no one is expected to be Jesus because none is ever will be Jesus; strive to be like him, yes, but understand his destiny is not your own. Jesus never said don't pick up your sword but rather his words are about knowing when one should use it instead of always turning to it.
All who live by the sword*
*except Americans in 2021, despite having mostly had a great run.
It's not like the apostles were faced with annihilation and were being murdered by the Jewish authorities, right?
And it's not like Nero was taking entire churches, covering the people in tar and setting them on fire. Nope...they had it easy. You're in the middle of tribulation compared to them.
The commands of Jesus are literal and eternal. You don't get to just say they don't apply to you because you don't like them, heretic. That's progressive bible interptetation right there.
The Martyrs went to their death because there was no comprehensible method for them to fight. Many Saints, many Martyrs were warriors. Don't lean on a shovel and pray to God for a hole.
Turn the other cheek is in reference to not seeking personal vengeance against someone who has slighted you. The meaning is antithetical to "eye for an eye" and for good reason.
Turn the other cheek is not however in reference to allowing malicious actors to perpetrate crimes against you, your family, your community, or any other man without repercussion. If it was, it would fundamentally nullify any concept of law and order.

Look at his followers, you blind guide. St Stephen. Peter. Paul. The other apostles. The Roman martyrs.

PS "Put away your sword, for all.who live by the sword will die by the sword".
Right, it was not a good time to raise the sword at that moment.
People lived in different times with different purposes and destinies. If you are a coward then so be it.
Oh, their time wasn't right but ours is?

Hey, are the commands of God eternal and unchanging, or temporary and malleable?
I've seen homosexuals make better efforts to stick to the words when arguing than you.
It is not a sin to fight for what is right.

There were rebellions by new religions all the time. Look at Gamaliel's reference to Theudas in Acts.
It's fine to defend one's family and the helpless. It's not fine to just say to hell with the hard bits like turning the other cheek.

That's true. We have a duty to defend our families. Last I heard, that didn't extend to wiping out ethnic groups.
