Just know that there are people that love you. I'm an alcoholic. I have been since I lost my best friend in the Marine Corps. I finally asked for help a few weeks ago, and the support has been overwhelming. I know there's a few of you fellow vets out there who are prideful like me, and think we can conquer everything ourselves, but just simply asking for help is all you need to do. I had heard horror stories about the VA, but, everyone I've talked to so far has been incredibly helpful, and I'll be checking into the hospital tomorrow before I kill myself by drowning in alcohol. The help is out there, guys, you just have to ask for it. I'm ready for the fight ahead, and you need to be too. We need all hands on deck, and if you're not well, you need to get well. All the best - Felonious

I don't know what city you're in, and you don't need to dox yourself. You should be able to easily find an in-person local Alcoholics Anonymous meeting around you.
There is hope! Find the people who have lasting sobriety, tell them your story. If you're done and you have decided its a problem, then you're ready.
You never have to drink again. Those men and women can show you a way to not only never drink again, but to ENJOY your life without the drink and to truly love your life like never before.
Amen. It worked for me. I had AA meetings lined up at any hour of the day or night where I knew I could go when I needed a break from the urge to quit trying and just have a drink. Thank God I had people around me there who understood and helped walk me back from the edge. I never take my sobriety for granted, and I guard it with my life. They say the further you are from your last drink, the closer you are to your next.
