Socialists are not against armed people, as long as the people armed are only their supporters. Few German citizens owned, or were entitled to own firearms in Germany in the early 1930s, the Wiemar Republic having strict gun control laws. When the Nazi party (socialists) gained power, some aspects of gun regulation were loosened, such as allowing firearm ownership for Nazi party members and the military.
