Came to ask the same question. Verification was originally designed only for well-known individuals so that it would be easy for people to know the account was real. Now Twitter verifies any random leftist account, regardless of if it is associated with someone famous.
How is he verified? It's supposed to be against the Marines code to do this sort of thing, either that or he's not a real Marine.
