I had my mug for about 10 months. I never used it once. My wife would use it to eat cereal, then it broke while washing the dishes. They must be pretty cheaply made.
Not to mention, I believe they were looking for a new mug company not too long ago. They know the mug company they are/were with wasn't exactly up to the standards they wanted.

I've used mine a bunch of times, had it for... 8 months or so, I'd imagine. You might have just gotten one with a bad imperfection.
