It's a bad cold. As with every virus, getting more deadly also kills off the virus. A virus can only survive by getting less deadly.
If it's super deadly, you're gonna die before you can spread it everywhere. If a virus just makes you sick, it can spread everywhere.
This is why we still have the common cold (they're mostly coronaviruses) and the flu (influenza is more deadly than covid until you're on the fast track to death from other illnesses at an old age)
there are no "variants" or "new strains" of covid. COVID IS COVID.

Yep....in microbiology it is said all the time 'the virulent or bacterial strain needs teeth and feet" to spread.
