Are you a lion roaming 1000s of acres of forest, or a dog tied up to a tree in a backyard?
When you plant yourself in one place for decades, with the same job for decades, you can't understand how much better it could be.
"But I'm happy where I am."
Go out back to pet your dog and notice how excited he gets. He's happy too. And he's happy because ignorance is bliss. He doesn't know about the forest. He could be shagging every female wild dog imaginable. He could be eating fish and squirrel instead of that shit dog food he's gotta eat every day. But he's still happy because he doesn't know any better. A kid will play with him once in a while. He'll get fleas a couple times. And then he'll die. It's the same fate for these people that never venture out and explore their untapped freedoms, born and raised in the same town they die in. I'm here to tell you, if you live this way, you would be glad you didn't.
Get out there, explore and be adventurous while you still have that one life to live, and you'll thank me for telling you to do so.
What's your best story?
a bear attacking the camper while I was inside. meeting some real native americans and being invited/ included in an actual pow-wow. gathering mussels off the rocks at point conception and eating them for dinner. drinking tequila in mexico and being tossed in jail with no idea if i would ever get out. the list goes on and on.
That's awesome.
