I guess I'm ahead of my time, I've been boycotting baseball for years.

35
War_Hamster 35 points ago +35 / -0

Lucky you. Baseball was my first love, and I do miss it dearly.

27
NADSAQ 27 points ago +29 / -2

I was a baseball fanatic, until they went on strike when I was like 8. Even then, I wondered why millions to play a game wasn’t enough. Never gave a shit after that.

24
War_Hamster 24 points ago +24 / -0

1991 strike destroyed the beautiful symmetry of comparing statistics across generations. I stuck with it, even through the artificial turf and steroid eras.

But as much as I love baseball, I love America more.

I used to watch a lot of baseball, but now I can't when half the league is imported Mexicans and Dominicans,

I am sure that nuance was lost on seven year old me.

1
Gesirisi 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sports are different though. The fairness of the game is what makes it interesting to watch. Nobody wants to watch 25 shitty teams and 5 superteams. And I was a fan of the Yankees growing up of all teams, lol. I remember when they got Jason Giambi it pissed me off. He was on Oakland, I was scared of him on Oakland, he was a star for Oakland. Him being on the Yankees was unnatural and felt unfair. But Yanks lost anyway so whatever.

4
DonJr2024 4 points ago +4 / -0

First love also. But the way teams just suck for year after year hoping fans will stay loyal and optimistic about "the great prospects we have coming up" just eventually wore on me.

Meanwhile they're ruining the game in the name of speeding it up and then they've got so many ads, even superimposed ads onto the field for tv viewers.

Add in the woke BS and I've never been more done. Will just continue to play softball for fun.

Make beer league softball league great again. Boom stick summer 2021 bitches.

2
War_Hamster 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm a Padres fan, or was, which is a great example of your year-after-year scenario, only they were about to have a great season, but I won't watch a pitch.

I don't even miss it, and I'm usually fired up for Opening Day.

2
DonJr2024 2 points ago +2 / -0

As someone who used to watch about 80 games a year, plus go to 3 or 4, and listen to a few dozen on the radio, it is very nice to get that time back.

I might enjoy watching a playoff game in a bar with friends, if I would be going to hang out anyway. And maybe for fun I'll go watch some local games, such as college or even a minor league game for fun. And I'll play it recreationally. So they haven't taken it from me. They've just lost my support for the professional game. I have family and my own business. Those need to both get more attention from me anyway.

War_Hamster 1 point ago +1 / -0

I think there are a lot of Americans making that same judgement for the same reasons you stated.

Baseball is fun to play but boring as heck to watch. Plus mlb prices are a giant rip off.

6
tombombadil 6 points ago +7 / -1

MLB is by far the most affordable to go to a game in person out of the major sports.

5
LLchurch 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yeah they have the benefit of having 162 games or 81 home games. I remember when SRO at the vet was under 10 bucks. I love baseball but fuck the mlb and manfreds blm dick riding ass. Mlb is dead to me.

3
tombombadil 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah you could get $9 seats for the Nats back when they sucked.

1
ProphetOfKek 1 point ago +1 / -0

That’s just terrible!

1
DonJr2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

Depends how you look at it. To sit in the nosebleeds for 1 of 162 games (plus playoffs) costs $14 to $20 in my city and the beers are $12 and parking costs more than both of them.

With football you have, what, 9 home games all year? Yeah it costs more but it's a way bigger deal.

2
refresco 2 points ago +2 / -0

I never minded the prices too much, a day at the park for a family of 4 was like $80-100. Not bad for 3-4 fours of family fun. But the virtue signaling and grandstanding turned me off for the immediate future. Hopefully MLB can get some decent leadership or some other decent league will rise from the ashes. I love baseball but I wont support a league against my best interests.

2
DabbinOnBiden 2 points ago +2 / -0

$5 ticket and a $20 to an usher will get you any seat in the house for a weekday, afternoon game. We had a guy back when I had seasons. Bought them in the bleachers but if you want to move up go talk to your guy and slip him a bill. He very likely knows which of the season ticket holders won’t be there and puts you in their seats.

When I think of MLB, only one name comes to mind. George Carlin.

3
EricCiaramellaSuxDix 3 points ago +3 / -0

BASEBALL!

Football is played on the gridiron. BASEBALL is played on a diamond! In the park!

kamalashugebutthole 40 points ago +40 / -0

Done. I am actually a huge baseball fan and my company buys a huge number of tickets to my local MLB team's games. I have let them know that I will not be purchasing a single ticket this year because of the MLB's support of voter fraud.

16
Rucktoe 16 points ago +16 / -0

Huge fan here as well.

This is one of the most heartbreaking boycotts I am going to do.

Sad deal, but we absolutely have to let the game suffer as we root out the dipshits from positions of power.

5
tombombadil 5 points ago +5 / -0

Check out that Savannah Banana independent league team that is going viral. It looks like a blast to watch and play.

2
NuttinInya 2 points ago +2 / -0

I second this, don't stop at boycotting the MLB and MILB, support their competition. Find any local teams that belong to unaffiliated leagues and support them. Baseball is supposed to be the national pastime anyway, the MLB stole it.

4
DonJr2024 4 points ago +4 / -0

Join a softball league. You'll have more fun and meet people.

1
kamalashugebutthole 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes. I love baseball, but I love my country more.

4
ikuyas 4 points ago +4 / -0

You can enjoy going to Minor leagues. Is that a choice?

1
kamalashugebutthole 1 point ago +1 / -0

I will be going to watch some independent league ball this year hopefully.

22
FuckGovernment 22 points ago +22 / -0

Although I happily boycott MLB, it's kind of sad that America's Past-time is now ruined.

How many people here have fond memories of going to their first major league ball game with their fathers? It's a bonding moment we had with our dads that we remember.

Hopefully we get some professional leagues to compete. Apply the anti-trust laws to apply to pro sports. Let them fund their own stadiums for now on. Let other new and better pro sports leagues compete.

2
Sunnybats2 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I didn't grow up with an MLB team. Some here watched cubs on cable not me

During my years in DC I went to two orioles games and a couple Nats games at rfk

Same thing happened with football. Which represented the same thing for many Americans as well.

Oh well.

ChilledCovfefe 20 points ago +20 / -0

Check into local baseball teams. You can go watch a semi pro level game and have a good time for a few bucks! Like baseball USED to be! I have one team about 15 minutes away and another about 25 minutes away.

6
Kekasaur 6 points ago +6 / -0

This^

2
Fabius 2 points ago +2 / -0

Exactly.

I like soccer. You know what I do? I go to the local college and watch their team play. Or I got to the park and watch the amateurs. I still see goals and good passes and I clap when either team scores. It's still fun.

I feel like a scout or something.

8
Lion-Party-Rising 8 points ago +8 / -0

What you call a massacre, the rest of us call saving the country.

Our founding fathers had the balls to do what needed to be done, and they made damn fucking sure we had the constitutional right to do it again.

1
R-A-T-S- 1 point ago +1 / -0

They waited about 10 years to start the revolutionary war from the time the stamp act was created. This time was used to form the country that would kick out the redshirt though lots of espinoge. .

1
Lion-Party-Rising 1 point ago +1 / -0

It was a different time. They still fought the British and secured our freedom. They were still willing to get their hands dirty.

We don't need 10 years like they did. We can get shit done right now with some proper leadership.

1
R-A-T-S- 1 point ago +1 / -0

We might need more time. The problem is you'll never have the "Perfect man" for leadership. There is so many people that there will always be some part of the maga group who'd complain about the leader. Just look at all the people who complain about trump on this site.

5
SpookySpook 5 points ago +8 / -3

He is low energy even here. Had to wait until Trump set his foot for fake lolbertarian Paul to whine

2
LibertarianXian 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yea if this were AD&D, Rand would have about 6-8 CHR compared to Trump's 18(boost to 20 with crowd)

9

How about we start taking away their tax breaks? How about we take away their public money for the new stadiums they always want but never want to pay for? You could even get the leftists behind it, make the billionaire owners and the millionaire players pay their fair share.

8
BahamaDon 8 points ago +8 / -0

RP is a little late to this game. I boycotted pretty much all sports for a couple of years now. They have made it clear that they like my money, but not me as an individual.

5
womp_squared 5 points ago +5 / -0

I love baseball. I look forward to going to games every summer. Last year with the BLM shit that fandom took a huge hit. Then my favorite team since I was a little kid decided they were going to puss out and change their name. Then they traded 90% of the team for peanuts. Then they decided I couldn't watch any games without being extorted into spending thousands of dollars a year on cable\satellite subscription. Now the entire league is shitting all over my firm beliefs again. I stopped caring last year. They had a chance to win me back this year because I truly do love the game of baseball but they made the decision that they don't want me as a fan anymore. Fair enough, one less superficial thing I need to concern myself with.

5
MrEvangelon1 5 points ago +5 / -0

At this point in time, Democrats are boycotting MLB because of lockdowns.

5
Tellsyouhow 5 points ago +6 / -1

Typical opportunist Rand. Trump already called for a boycott so it's bound to happen. Rand jumps on the bandwagon for something where the outcome is predetermined to make himself look good.

At the end of the day Rand Paul helped create this situation by refusing to call out the obvious voter fraud and siding with the Democrats.

4
FuckGovernment 4 points ago +4 / -0

I've been boycotting them for a long time.

And the rules changes in MLB have destroyed the game.

2
KuhlooKuhlay 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agreed on the rule changes. Instant replay and wigging out each time there's a collision or a guy gets beaned pretty much were already ruining the game.

I blame all this shit on nerds and busy bodies.

4
Spawnlingman 4 points ago +4 / -0

Rand Paul thinks hes being smart here. Many of us were this smart five years ago.

It's time for MLB, NFL, etc. to go away. Move them to China where their masters are and leave them there.

3

Considering the crowd at the ballgame in Texas in the other thread, Conservatives are willingly walking themselves into the trashbin of history. We can't even stop watching a game.

2
Trousershorts 2 points ago +2 / -0

Considering how woke companies trample their ideals when it comes to making money (antiracist Disney hiding Finn in Chinese SW posters, for example), it will work. I doubt many woke lefties care for a sport that is so uniquely American as baseball. Also, the whole negro league thing might be worth bringing up to any lefties defending the MLB. Should be fun since doing something bad in history means you're bad forever by their logic!
