I think Floyd is a POS and was high as a kite swallowing his stash. He was going to crash and had just had an OD not to long ago.
But I also do think that its going to be easy to get the jury to see that the knee for 9 minutes was excessive especially after he died/passed out whatever.
While I agree with part of your sentiment on this and it is a long time to have the knee on an individual, but you cannot convict him on that alone.
You have to prove without a reasonable doubt that Chauvin's knee was directly responsible for causing the death of GF.
He did have a large amount of Drugs in his system and that could have killed him as well, and if you cannot prove his knee was the direct cause of Floyds death then you have reasonable doubt.
His knee being on Floyd for 9 min is not what he is on trial for. He is on trial for allegedly murdering Floyd with that knee. Since he could have died from either the knee or the drugs in his system that will get him acquitted because of reasonable doubt.
If they want to have a different trial for Chauvin for excessive force then definitely that will stick and he is guilty of that.
The defense is going to have to put up a pretty good case though. I think its going to be tough. We are talking legally speaking not opinions or feelings.
Prosecution has had some good witness's testify that it was excessive, not needed, and a one of the doctors just said he died of asphyxiation.
So I guess it comes down to what the Defense can do, what Chauvin says and what their experts say.
Right now prosecution has made a decent enough case that Chauvins knee was not reasonable and "lead" to his death. I think for this case with how sensitive it is that might be enough. But again like I said we will see what the defense presents and if Chauvin takes the stand what does he say.
They are really going to have sow doubt that the knee had anything to do with him dying.
On a personal level I could agree that the drugs were the factor, but you gotta convince 12 jurors of that.
Whole thing is a show trial anyways, they could have gotten him on assault or negilgence 100%, maybe even a plea that would have put him behind bars. But they really want that murder charge.
and a one of the doctors just said he died of asphyxiation
He did, but then the defense suggested that if Floyd had died from Fentanyl would that be considered asphyxia as well, and the Dr. said yes. Which makes sense because Fentanyl OD causes respiratory failure.
I think he is going to be found guilty.
I have been going back and forth on this.

My money is on hung jury. The jury is going to fold and kick the can down the road because they don’t want to be lynched for finding him not guilty.

Ok thanks didn't know the defense did that.
Like I said the Defense is going to need to also have some good witness's.
I am curious if Chauvin takes the stand and what kind of impact his testimony will have.
