I tried calling the diocese had to leave a message. I asked the nazi lady greeters would Jesus wear mask? They said YES. The priest said Jesus would deny me entry on Easter Sunday. Even in Texas after the mask mandate is lifted lots of places deny you entry. It’s so depressing. I need a lawyer who would fight this.

Edit: Thanks for all the kind words, advice and support. I really needed it and it helped me tremendously. I will be trying all the ideas below and give an update. Kind of sad I can’t go to my priest but my fellow pedes saved me from despair. God Bless you all.

2nd Update: Got ahold of archdiocese of Houston. The lady I talked to was sympathetic but sent me to a voicemail for ‘complaints’. No reply yet. Also heard from Queen of Angels in Dickinson - Latin Mass - short uber ride away. They will not deny me without a mask! Please support this parish pedes. And thanks to the based pedes who suggested it. They are true Christians! I can also go to confession 30 mins before Mass which helps since I have called the priest a loser faggot and I really shouldn’t have :( Also asked to meet the Bishop. I will continue to fight back. What they did is cruel.

Catholic here, some experience working in church world. You could try and discuss what happened with your pastor, but it sounds as if that would not be fruitful. So go immediately to the archbishop's office. He has the real power and the strings.

Keep contacting your archdiocese until you talk to the Cardinal. Not one of the auxiliary bishops, Cardinal DiNardo himself. I am serious. He has to take a call or a meeting from you at some point. This is unfortunately how it works in most dioceses if you want to be heard. You have to keep bothering the diocese until they can't ignore you. You have a legitimate medical condition; the church cannot force you to wear a mask that interferes with your health. Tell them what the priest did and everything that happened. This is unjust and un-pastoral in the highest order. It has caused you spiritual distress and therefore harm. You are not the only person who has been hurt by bad decisions and uppity greeters throughout this whole thing, but not enough people are complaining about it. It is hard.

If you're serious about a lawyer, and if you're up for it, you can look into seeking canonical counsel (finding a canon lawyer). Some independent ones have websites like this: https://www.canonicalaid.org/home.html

You could also contact a canon lawyer in your diocese (call and ask at the tribunal, and ask to talk to either the Judicial Vicar or another canon lawyer) who might point you in the right direction to finding someone to represent you, or at least help you write a letter, from outside of your diocese; canon lawyers (like the judicial vicar or judges on the tribunal) working for the diocese would not be able to, since that would be acting as opposition to the bishop who they serve under. But they still have an obligation to point you in the right direction to seek canonical counsel.

I think based on your medical statement, you could have a case for at the very least securing an exception to any mask wearing.

PS: Lady greeters have no right to say that to you.

Edit: Please know that my heart breaks for you. I second what others have said about trying to find a Traditional Latin Mass parish.

Thank you Catholic pede. I have been crying on and off for two days. I think the archdiocese is closed they haven’t answered phones or called me back. Maybe closed today. This whole thing has caused me some deep distress not even sure I understand why. My eyesight is so bad I can’t drive far so I can walk to this church. I really appreciate your help. Being told I had to watch mass on TV by the priest and not receive holy communion on Easter Sunday has caused a pretty dark cloud over me. I am already pretty isolated because of the pandemic. Then they take this too.

This whole scenario with COVID has been very distressing for me too-- I think in part because it has revealed how little trust people in power in the Church have in the Lord and in the power of His sacraments, especially in the Eucharist. And no matter what anyone says, I think watching on TV or livestream is not the same as being present in person for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

I also said a prayer for you just now, for your intentions, and asking our Blessed Mother to bring you comfort.

Thank you kind pede. I watched Jesus of Nazareth and Barabas told him ‘you would be friends with the Romans?’ Jesus said ‘All men are welcome at my father’s table!’ He also said ‘Be not afraid for I am with you always!’ And yet ‘Christians’ have no faith that Jesus will save them from this plague. It has hurt my soul. But it could be the catalyst. Something needs to happen and all real Christians must condemn this horrid practice. I should be welcome to touch the holy water and receive the holy sacrament. At least the Lutherans let me in.
