Very clever response.

However any response tells the robocaller system that you are a live phone number, and this promotes your phone number to other lists, which are bought and sold by shady telemarketing companies that do not care about breaking the law and harassing you endlessly.

So expect a lot more spam, going forward.

The best way to deal with these unsolicited telecommunications, which are illegal as per FCC regulations, and punishable by a $500 fine per incident, is to report them here:

https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us

Otherwise you should never reply to an unsolicited message, since that flags your number for further harassment later.

So technically no, you are not doing this right. The right way would be what I suggested.
