Masks incentivize touching your face way more then unmasked people would normally touch ones face. As we know almost all viruses spread by contact with fluids, and while there may be some airborne spread, it is far more likely that masked individuals are touching a contaminated surface, using that hand to adjust their masks dozens of times over what they normally would have, and then basically incubate the disease in the warm humid environment of the mask.
