It's what happens when you spend decades living in "good times". Most lack a spine to be willing to tell others where to shove their garbage because they don't want to do anything to lose the nice things they have now. All it's going to end up doing is creating an even worse situation than if people a little over 100 years ago put their collective feet down and said "no." Which led to people 80 years ago allowing things, and people 60 years ago allowing even more, etc. etc. etc.
