Those omnibus bills needed 60 votes which meant they had to be bipartisan to a degree.

It's not just about the amount spent. All the leftist wishlist items will come true now, including things like reparations which previously wouldn't be included in a Recon. bill because of the Byrd Rule.

Previous recon. rules meant that only 1 bill per fiscal year would pass and you only need 51 votes to pass so each party would only pass important shit like tax cuts or infrastructure. You can't include "non-germane" items inside a reconciliation bill of a certain type - so if it's stimulus you can't just throw in $15 Minimum wage - it has to be its own separate bill because of the Byrd Rule. So the leaders would leave out the "pie in the sky" items and just focus on the core stuff.

Now it's a free for all since you can pass multiple per year, so they'll focus on the core stuff now, and ram all the "pie in the sky" stuff through later.
