You are still employed by a university as your full time job where you do your research, but at night you invented a set of recursive alogrythms that use a modified version of common lisp macros to recursively rewrite them selves gaining you exponential gains in performance instead of linear that google and big tech currently have access to.
You haven't shared this tech with anyone. It's brand new.

b) no access to additional researches because this particular set of self replicating recursive search algorythms would really be usefull on a quantum computer.

Remember property rights? You incorporated the company, you own all the stock, you own all the tech as it doesn't verge on expropriation requirements on military tech by the government.

You go public, you are now worth billions, company many more.
You are now validated as a publicly owned company, you have 20% stake in your publicly traded company, you are legit.
Now the big boys want to dump money into your company. All of the worlds biggest funds including the Aramco fund that is worth TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS wants to invest. You say yes.
You start getting more government contracts. Your tech has been proven mostly successful they want more. You sign some secrect contracts for things no one can know about and deal with them in off shore black project ways. Other things you tie to your public face in a clandestine ways.
