It's not far fetched. I've seen addicts do that. They'll comb through the carpets, fiber by fiber, looking for anything. A roach, a crumb, an ash, anything. They'll disassemble and rearrange furniture just to see if there's anything in there or behind it. Drugs really really fuck people up.
