As a small business owner, I am sick and tired of being shit on while simultaneously generating enough revenue to multiple governments to pay to feed/cloth/house/educate dozens of families annually. I have been reluctant to turn business political, precisely because I abhor political "woke" pandering corporations. I don't want to be what I despise. I just want to do what I do regardless of politics. I also am willing to take your green money, even if it comes out of sticky red hands.
Today, however, was somewhat interesting. I met with some clients, who walked in the door, holding masks in their hands. Obviously, I did not have one on, nor did I even have one. The first thing they did was start to mention they brought them and could put them on. Before they finished the sentence I was like "get those things outta here, we don't do that around here..." And you would not believe how big their eyes got and the smiles on their faces. It was greatness.
Honestly, I am somewhat afraid of the amount of shit publicity I inevitably will get for going there. I'd like to hope that revenues would increase in spite of the cancel attempts. But I do fear what local/state governments might decide to inconvenience me with for drawing attention to myself.
Any based business pedes have any advice here? How did you all manage the heat? Or did you get any at all? Did you get awful shit written in the papers about you? I would love to read about your experiences.
Emphasize a happy message. We love people and want to see your smiling faces. Go over the top and act like the nicest, friendliest SOB in town...
Then just do what you want & shrug off anyone trying to stop you.
Good advice. I really want to go further than that. This isn't about masks. Although I despise them. This is about "come here to get the fuck away from loony woke leftists" and that kinda scares me honestly. Do I feel that way? Yes. But I also abhor political businesses. So I'd become what I despise.
In for a penny, in for a pound, is how I always do everything. So If I do it, you can bet I will be a loud mouth about it. I'm not into making "safe spaces" for pedes. This would be pretty flagrant and openly defiant if I go there. I'm just nervous. I don't want to lose money, and I don't want the long dong of the government to start really deep cavity searching me. I could do without that hassle.
Just get good at being subtle about the things that trigger lefties but aren't inherently political.
Have a sign that says "family friendly business" with little a cartoon family but they all happen to be straight and white
Like the other guy suggested, "no mask necessary, we like to see your smile!” would trigger them. They hate happiness AND people who don't wear masks.
"God bless America" and a US flag would probably keep them away very effectively too.
