it is bizarre. I always laugh when i hear about the party switch b/c it's absurd but there was definitely a dynamic switch. happened much later. The party of wall street, big business, war, etc is now the democratic party. they also became the mainstream party(i.e. the one the media pushes) which i'm not sure if was always the norm. it may have been. honestly not old enough to remember. i know snl always leaned left but that would suggest it was the counter culture at the time.
