Where was his right knee? Nobody's paying attention to that. It seems to shift around. We can't tell how much weight was distributed to his toes, or which knee. Neither can you tell by looking from the top where the pressure really is under just one knee. Chauvin is only 140#.
None of this matters. Weight on the back affects the heart. Staying there over 9 minutes has always been the problem. Nobody's saying getting GF in that position in the first place was a problem. (The LT Friday tried to, but that can apparently be proven false via the Police training manual; that should have everything he said thrown out)
I think defense has to establish that cops flipping GF over onto his back to start chest compressions would require taking the handcuffs off, and that was just too risky. Waiting for the paramedics to arrive made more sense, they were only 2 blocks away from the hospital.
We'll see. More experts on Police use of force coming up, then medical experts. Then whoever defense wants to call as a witness. Still a long way to go ...
We can't call on George Kirby's neck to ask it how much pressure was being applied. I mean, this is just not provable in my opinion. I don't think he killed Kirby. The dude died from drug overdose.
That and he was asked directly if he was on drugs. He lied and said "no". Had he told the truth about swallowing a shitload of fentanyl, perhaps they could have gotten him the help he needed.

"Positional asphyxiation" can kill you, with NO pressure applied. Pressure speeds it up. Not just weight on top, but pressure on the side, too. Chauvin did both, though not at all times. Had he rolled GF onto his side or sat him up, even if GF still died Chauvin would be in a much better situation now.
Weight on neck vs on back doesn't make that much of a difference, but on neck with the head tilted to the side is WAY worse than with face straight down.
Did not die from a heart attack, nor from exertion leading to heart attack
while heart disease didn't cause this death, it was a significant contributing factor.

To start CPR cops would have had to uncuff GF. If defense can establish that wasn't reasonable that'll help.
I think defense can beat murder 2, not sure how murder 3 is defined in MN. Unintentional or negligent manslaughter will be hard to beat, but defense hasn't had their turn to call any witnesses yet.

Floyd was 3 Times over the lethal dosage of fentanyl, if he didn't die on the ground he would have stopped breathing in the ambulance and the riggers still would have found it a good enough teason to go loot some Jordan's.
