The Alliance for Community Trees a branch (no intended pun) of the Arbor Day Foundation held environmental justice classes that teach how to work in minority and marginalized (specifically black) neighborhoods who are the victims of environmental INJUSTICE. (On a side note...in real estate you can sued for calling a neighborhood "minority" or calling any neighborhood black or brown)
A part of this training is being aware of your whiteness while working in a minority community. We are expected to plant trees in these neighborhoods but should not consider ourselves white saviors (as many lefties do).
I work for a nonprofit that plants trees, and we can't win. We are supposed to plant trees in underserved areas where there is statistically less tree canopy, but we are colonists and racists for planting trees in minority neighborhoods. I haven't heard the "trees used for hangings" yet, but now I will put that information in my pocket for later.
