**Doesn't go far enough, it needs to stop "woke businesses" from implementing it **

81
TBGJC 81 points ago +85 / -4

The libertarian scum part of me is torn on this.

But the reality is we don't live in a free market because of patents, trademarks, exclusive zones, and taxes. So being a libertarian is moronic

72
dev01 72 points ago +73 / -1

I am a libertarian.

Companies are only private to the degree they are free from government money flows and privileges (cronyism). If a company has all kinds of privileges and flows from China, they're basically an arm of the CCP, they're a private husk, private in name only.

48
thisguy883 48 points ago +49 / -1

Any company that partakes in public opinion and politics to push legislation is no longer a private company in my eyes. They are a threat to freedom and must be put back in their places.

You want to be a private company? Sure. But as soon as you hire lawyers and politicians to push legislation that harms other people trying to make ends meet, that's where your privacy is no longer valid. You are now a public entity and should be treated as such.

TacotruckGangsta -6 points ago +4 / -10

Fortunately that's not how America works.

22
ManyDirt 22 points ago +22 / -0

Right, whatever DARPA money went to Facebook in the early days makes it an arm of the government. So they should be beholden to the constitution... Of course, so should the government... And yet i can't get an MP5 from 1987 even if I wanted to.

6
TBGJC 6 points ago +7 / -1

If a company pays taxes based on performance, they are not private. That describes America

2
dev01 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's a gradient. It's not black and white.

0
Sunsofmumford 0 points ago +1 / -1

It is though.

If you are a company who operates in a country where there are not invading forces - then you need to pay taxes.

Pay the fair share at a flat % of income.

I don't see what the deal is. Fuck the Richie Rich tax breaks and accounting loopholes. Fuck them in their asses (if they can get the silver spoons out of them).

5
dev01 5 points ago +5 / -0

Some companies are entirely compromised, some are only partially compromised.

All Cronyism is bad, but it's almost impossible to have a functioning business larger than a corner store without it.

-1
Sunsofmumford -1 points ago +1 / -2

Close minded.

1
Sunsofmumford 1 point ago +3 / -2

If a company pays taxes because their workers use public roads to travel to/from their factory, their warehouses are on a police patrol, their borders are secured so some invading horde doesn't carry them away - they can still be private. If they're publicly traded, they're public.

That describes America.

3
TBGJC 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's not what I'm getting at

Why does the government get more money if I sell 1000 pizzas instead of 100? They had nothing to do with it.

4
Wholelottarosie1776 4 points ago +4 / -0

Thats how i feel as a massage therapist. I used my body to perform a job and the government gets a take plus they want to tax my tips. That tip was a token of appreciation from the client. Keep your hands off my money. ESPECIALLY since they are going to give it to welfare recipients that have no desire to ever contribute to society.

2
Karma_Bus_Route_20 2 points ago +2 / -0

I taught my parents to use cash instead of credit cards for tipping, because then the amount isn't recorded and the server doesn't have taxes automatically deducted from the whole amount. 10% was the minimum expected claim back when I was a server. So a $50 credit card tip on a $200 order meant paying income tax on the whole $50, but if it was $50 in cash, only $20 would be automatically taxed.

0
Sunsofmumford 0 points ago +3 / -3

In that example, you consume: 10x the water needing to be pumped through public pipes to your dishwashers 10x the trucks on the public roads bringing you supplies 10x the natural gas for the ovens pressing on the public pipelines 10x the delivery cars on the public roads 10x the liability of terrorists bombing all the trucks, delivery drivers, employees needing to be protected 10x the possibility (and ultimately the instance) of needing to call the public fire department 10x the cash on hand (and ultimately the liability) of getting robbed and needing to call the public police department

so 10x the taxes to pay for 10x the costs.

Also - your fucking argument is moot. It's a flat % tax, not cash on hand. Why the fuck does Bezos pay $0??? Why can we not just do a flat fucking percentage?? And fuck "incentives..." that's government picking winners and losers. If you really wanted to do that, hold rebates hostage for 2 years. If your business did what it said it would (growth, hiring, etc.), THEN you get some cash rebate or some shit. I don't know. I'm so sick of assholes gaming the system.

Nobody's on an island. The argument is about the waste, and if we can support the public shit for less.

4
TBGJC 4 points ago +4 / -0

Fine. Why do I pay more taxes if I charge 20 dollars per pizza instead of 10?

But I'm not against this. All I'm saying is there's no private businesses

3
Kamalas_a_Bitch 3 points ago +3 / -0

private in name only.

1
Legalpede 1 point ago +1 / -0

"Corporations" are rarely (I want to say never) creatures of the free market, because they owe their existence to the state, and are often that which props the State up.

8
anonymousdonor 8 points ago +10 / -2

Well the libertarian part of you is gay so it's easy to ignore.

8
BurtMcGirt 8 points ago +8 / -0

I had to leave the Libertarian Party because of their views on illegal immigration and support of oligarchs doing whatever they want.

3
dev01 3 points ago +3 / -0

They've been infiltrated. LP sucks.

2
kernel 2 points ago +2 / -0

What is your libertarian take on East/West India Companies?

2
Isolated_Patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Regardless of what the government may claim, a corporation is not a person.

A piece of paper should not have more rights than me, and it damn sure shouldn't have more rights than the government.

27
Tx50bmg 27 points ago +27 / -0

This. The insidious part about it is that businesses will enact requirements, not the feds. Given that, they should be liable for lawsuits in the vein of HIPPA violations.

9
LowKeyPede 9 points ago +9 / -0

They will lose money by excluding half the population, so I suspect the govt will incentivize them to implement restricting with grants/funds/bribes to help with COVID "protocols"

8
anonymousdonor 8 points ago +8 / -0

Half huh. I'd say about 10% of the supposed conservatives I know have refused the jab.

5
UpTrump 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yeah we're such a tiny portion of the population we're irrelevant

5
BurtMcGirt 5 points ago +6 / -1

And Libertarians will still Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, saying it is free market, after the government coerces the stores into implementing the government's state run religion.

5
FOUR_MORE_TERMS 5 points ago +7 / -2

"Private businesses should have the right to have mutually agreed upon slavery! If both parties consent! Of course teenagers can do drugs and become prostitutes. Don't you believe in freedom!?! Yeah well you know that all these evil corporations would suddenly become benevolent if the government didn't exist! You understand that, right statist!?!"

current_horror 1 point ago +1 / -0

Libertarians believe a rudderless ship will never crash into the rocks. It's actually idiotic.

1
BurtMcGirt 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sounds about right.

4
AtTheInauguration 4 points ago +4 / -0

And when your job says you need it or you're fired?

7
LowKeyPede 7 points ago +8 / -1

Start looking for an attorney. It is a civil rights violation to require anyone to get a vaccine that is still EXPERIMENTAL. It is a first of it's kind gene therapy.

4
TightyWhitey 4 points ago +4 / -0

An attorney? Yeah....that’ll help.

Not.

We live in the Wild West now. Laws aren’t for US—they are for the other side.

5
LowKeyPede 5 points ago +5 / -0

I am as cynical as they come and inclined to agree with you, but especially considering it is EXPERIMENTAL and was not created to stop transmission, I think courts may stop this. Several huge, tyrannical big companies aren't even going for mandates because they know better.

1
rossiFan 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'll give them a nice looking but very fake vaccination card.

1
TightyWhitey 1 point ago +1 / -0

Large corporations no longer care about money. Can’t you see that? We can’t boycott with our dollars with A) They are getting paid by China, and B) They know the system is about to crash so dollars won’t mean anything.

5
brother_red 5 points ago +5 / -0

First off, love your username.

HIPAA (not HIPPA) has nothing to do with people or companies asking about your medical conditions. It regulates providers from releasing said information.

ADA though...

2
Tx50bmg 2 points ago +2 / -0

Appreciate the clarification :)

2
fourmyle33 2 points ago +2 / -0

So I can just lie and they can’t get my records?

3
brother_red 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm not following - you mean say you're covered under ADA?

None of it will matter if they try to take this federal - they'll simply modify ADA/HIPAA/whatever to make it legal.

Bottom line - fuck this "vaccine" passport nonsense. They can eat a bag of dicks.

20
thisguy883 20 points ago +20 / -0

Fuck those places.

I walk into stores all the time without a mask. No one has said shit to me. EVER. I get asked at the door at HEB if I want a mask, and I say na.

Most places now aren't even enforcing masks. People are just wearing them because its the thing right now. We need more people to show up without a damn mask so this shit ends.

16
BurtMcGirt 16 points ago +16 / -0

"We need more people to show up without a damn mask so this shit ends."

Exactly right!

9
Wholelottarosie1776 9 points ago +9 / -0

I was escorted out of the WTC memorial plaza last week for not wearing a mask. I was the only one there, outside, facing West street. This bitch or a security guard (minority woman) was barking at me to put a mask on and i told her no, im outside, leave me alone. I ignored her repeated shouts and she huffed and puffed and got two white guys in suits to approach me. I told them this is insane, im the only person sitting here, OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!! They agreed, they said they hate it too, but it was state property, blah blah, have to enforce tyranny. I was shouting "your obedience is prolonging this nightmare, wake up".

Im a born and bred NY'ER, was here on 9/11 and know people on that wall. To be kicked out of a place that symbolizes "freedom" was heartbreaking.

6
Seenev 6 points ago +6 / -0

Try living in Los Angeles. No way to survive here without wearing a mask sometimes. It's awful.

5
thisguy883 5 points ago +5 / -0

I feel for ya. Big cities in California are cesspools of idiocy.

Its almost like that here in Texas, but thank god we still have legislatures with common sense (for the most part). So we still have time to patch the holes on this ship.

10
BigCovfefe 10 points ago +11 / -1

How are businesses going to check your vaccine status without a government database?

9
anonymousdonor 9 points ago +9 / -0

There will be private databases.

Haha. He’s a politician. Probably a swampy one at that. They forget quickly.

14
booblitchutz 14 points ago +14 / -0

He also shit down most of Texas for 6 weeks and some businesses for much longer.

14
Starxteel 14 points ago +15 / -1

Exactly, too late Abbott you are getting voted out, corrupt cucked cripple.

6
Graey 6 points ago +6 / -0

He can do everything I approve of, but that one mandate was enough that if there is any competent challenger to him, Abbott lost my vote.

55
Mrs.Frostbite 55 points ago +55 / -0

First, an executive order can be overturned and second it’s not government I’m concerned it’s the private sector. Businesses seem to be frothing at the mouth to deny entrance and I foresee coming soon the need for a passport to enter a grocery store.

24
NOTWOKE 24 points ago +24 / -0

There won’t be enough mask police to deal with this shit. That won’t stop them from trying.

14
thisguy883 14 points ago +14 / -0

Yup. I'm sure the 16 year old girl is really going to go out of her way to stop people from entering a store who doesnt have a vaccine passport.

She can try.

But after the 5th, "Fuck off", she will give up and just ask, "Do you have a passport? No? Its fine, go ahead."

14
theAvatar 14 points ago +14 / -0

True but just wait until scanning the QR code is required before payment can be processed

11
Demonspawn 11 points ago +11 / -0

If they need the QR code before they accept my payment, I'm just walking out with the stuff. If they don't want to accept my money, that's THEIR problem.

7
TightyWhitey 7 points ago +7 / -0

It’s not about money right now. They are paid off by China. That’s why the NFL, NBA, MLB, Coke, and Airlines don’t care that they are losing half of their customer base.

They do NOT care about money.

They would care about their own safety. Just something to think about.

4
anonymousdonor 4 points ago +4 / -0

BRO I am OWNING the teenagers. THEY FEAR ME

3
Graey 3 points ago +3 / -0

Private Sector Passport Police sounds like a part time, shitty job that some people are going to claim is "Critical and Essential work!" and that they deserver $15/hr for a decent living wage! Just to check papers...

3
TightyWhitey 3 points ago +3 / -0

I almost want to get a part-time job as a “passport checker” just so I can secretly let people in without one. I’ll hand them a sticky note with my work schedule as well so they know when they can get food.

1
stagolee 1 point ago +1 / -0

If that was the case there wouldn’t be so many masks.

2
MasksAreChildAbuse 2 points ago +2 / -0

True. But it requires people disobey it.

In in florida and without exaggeration, im often the only maskless person in any given store (unless I go to a small town).

Make the store kick you out. People need to stop obeying signs.

The corpos will only relent if its a big issue. Like prohibition. US lived through that for YEARS and only after years of disobeying did the gov finally relent.

16
dr_drumpf 16 points ago +16 / -0

Corporations step in to control where government can't and vice versa. Isn't Fascism great!

7
MightyEighth 7 points ago +7 / -0

Corporations have been in the bed with the fed for so long they’ll do anything to ensure those government kickbacks happen.

This is not the same corporate America we had even 50 years ago.

6
dr_drumpf 6 points ago +6 / -0

lmfao! Woodrow Wilson said capitalism was literally dead over a hundred years ago. AND THEN he established the Federal Reserve. People that think America has been Capitalist in the last 150 years are either ignorant or liers.

4
MightyEighth 4 points ago +4 / -0

Woodrow Wilson is easily top 3 worst president this nation has ever had, he’s done more to the detriment of a free people than almost any other president.

1
dr_drumpf 1 point ago +1 / -0

Right, this is not the same corporate America we had even 250 years ago.

4
Isolated_Patriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

It's more of a Neo-Feudalism. We are beholden to the title-bearing land owners (corporations) because the king is dead (constitution) and justice is for sale.

5
dr_drumpf 5 points ago +5 / -0

No. It's late stage Communism aka Fascism. They use corporations to control us and government to crack the whip when we don't submit to them.

1
Sunsofmumford 1 point ago +1 / -0

We get the government we deserve.

3
dr_drumpf 3 points ago +3 / -0

lmfao! Government is evil and corruption incarnate.

0
anonymousdonor 0 points ago +1 / -1

Since it's something I don't like, I call it fascism!

13
DonJr24 13 points ago +13 / -0

Abbott will let businesses do what they want, and unless the Legislature does something now, this won't be resolved until 2023 when they are back in session. Abbott is such a coward, always taking DeSantis's position after he sees the fallout.

6
anonymousdonor 6 points ago +6 / -0

Pretty sad it took so long to find the first sensible comment. Indeed, it being an EO is a trap and a problem. I wonder if he will sign legislation that will codify no vaccine passports.

4
sustainable_saltmine 4 points ago +4 / -0

yep, they're going to use the cover of "I'm going to get sued if someone gets sick with coronavirus and they found out I let people in maskless". Which is partly true, lawyers have been chomping at the bit since this started to go "ambulance chaser" and start throwing lawsuits all over for people who got Coronavirus and want to sue a store or restaurant for "exposing them" by not enforcing masks and social distancing. Even though CDC "guidelines" are supposed to be only a "best practice" and not at all legally binding or admissible in court as evidence or proof of wrongdoing by not abiding.

31
deleted 31 points ago +31 / -0
28
DonJr24 28 points ago +28 / -0

That's his plan. He won't let the state require it, but he's perfectly happy to let businesses run roughshod over us.

5
Graey 5 points ago +5 / -0

And let the businesses fail. Its not enforceable en masse and I ALWAYS approve of government not interfering in businesses. I just the opposite was true too, and that business just left government alone.

9
DonJr24 9 points ago +9 / -0

Problem is that in the Dallas and Houston the sheeple demand it. It's frustrating living in the city.

4
TightyWhitey 4 points ago +4 / -0

“Let the businesses fail”

Just like Coke has gone out of business, right? And NBA, NFL, and MLB? And all Airlines?

Oh wait....nope.

They do not CARE about losing our dollars. They are funded regardless. They do care about our compliance, though. It’s about power.

4
stagolee 4 points ago +4 / -0

You put a lot of faith in the idea that people are actually going to resist on a large enough scale. They won’t.

13
Diotima 13 points ago +13 / -0

and I can refuse to go to those businesses and deprive them of business

15
_Sully_ 15 points ago +15 / -0

This sort of situation has already occurred but in regards to COVID precautions. A group of Karens decided they needed to work together to shame businesses not requiring masks. They make a public statement about the irresponsible business. The next day that business is packed with people. Get fucked.

5
TightyWhitey 5 points ago +5 / -0

Hmmm...that didn’t work for Coke, NBA, NFL, MLB and all Airlines...

It’s almost like....they don’t need or care about OUR dollars.

Hmmmm......

It would be a darn shame if people had to worry about their safety before making decisions. A darn shame, I tell ya.

2
Sunsofmumford 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep.

27
sustainable_saltmine 27 points ago +27 / -0

This. sorry to the weak minded people scared of disease lurking around every corner but no it is not your right to know if the people you are standing near have been vaccinated. If you don't feel safe, you have to be the one to remove yourself from the equation, everyone else doesn't need to yield to you.

13
phandaal 13 points ago +13 / -0

Thing is, if the vaccine is effective then these people shouldn't have to worry about people around them with Covid. Right?

9
TightyWhitey 9 points ago +9 / -0

I keep bringing this up on social media, and every time I do, I’m ignored.

If the vaccine works, why do you care that I haven’t had one?!

They are mad we aren’t COMPLYING, and I am utterly shocked because they know EXACTLY what this is (Totalitarianism/Communism) and it’s what they WANT.

2
Henrywarnimont 2 points ago +2 / -0

These people are so stupid. The CDC says that the vaccine will not prevent you from catching COVID. It will just prevent you from dying from it. This is the reason Biden and Fauci still rocks two masks while fully vaccinated. Therefore, the vaccinated pose the exact same risk as the unvaccinated. Passports are meaningless.

23
rupok2 23 points ago +24 / -1

this is just lip service just like lifting the mask mandate. private businesses can still require it.

Follow Desantis example you rino cuck.

16
StartAgain 16 points ago +17 / -1

This cuck is so trying to save face. Vaccine passports are absolutely unconstitutional, so I'll take what I can get, but never forget he didn't lift mask mandates until a year later

13

Abbott needs to go. He's a posturing fraud who doesn't have the spine to stand up to Big Tech or the COVID charade. He's a follower in those departments, not a leader.

11
Lol_Garrus 11 points ago +11 / -0

"government-mandated vaccine passports"

That just means woke compabies will do it.

Doesnt go far enough.

8
sustainable_saltmine 8 points ago +8 / -0

yeah it needs to be outlawed for businesses too. If a business requires a vaccine proof to work or do business, they need hefty fines.

9
tepkek 9 points ago +9 / -0

I know several people (normies mostly) who were pro or at least open to the idea of getting a vaccine. Every single one of them have said a passport system is a step too far, with most of them now refusing or reluctant to get a vaccine at all.

When even liberal normies recoil from your totalitarian agenda you know you're boiling the frog too quickly.

7
anonymousdonor 7 points ago +7 / -0

These same people were probably skeptical of a mask for two weeks but were willing to wear one to stop the spread.

4
BillDBlasiosBlackSon 4 points ago +4 / -0

Not the same thing. You can take a mask off, you can't 'take off' a shot that modifies your DNA.

7
TightyWhitey 7 points ago +7 / -0

“Government-mandated”.

Y’all—-this is ALL talk. Until CORPORATIONS are banned from mandating vaccines, this is all talk.

We are owned by corporations.

7
bigmikesballsack 7 points ago +7 / -0

Key to this comment is "government-mandated." Private businesses will be pressured by Big Tech in order to enforce restrictions.

Big Tech is the unspoken strong arm of the government.

6
Sdollar456 6 points ago +7 / -1

Rights? Like my right to not put a fucking mask on? Fuck you abbott

6
SpaceCadet 6 points ago +6 / -0

Says the governor that mandated statewide masks. Abbott is no hero. Covid isn’t “cool” anymore and Abbott has shifted with the wind as usual.

6
clipk0 6 points ago +6 / -0

Abbott is always 2 steps behind DeSantis

6
buckeyeminuteman 6 points ago +6 / -0

Maybe Texas won’t require them. But Citi, United Airlines, Costco and MLB might. That’s the thing with all of COVID-1984 I’ve discovered. The government isn’t necessarily Big Brother. Private corporations are now.

4
LowKeyPede 4 points ago +4 / -0

If they accept govt money, they cannot discrinate. Fucking airlines would be out of business today except for yours and my taxpayer funded bailouts. Now then want to tell us we can't fly??? Oh hell no.

This should come from legislation, not executive fiats. When Abbott, DeSantis, Noem, etc, leave office, their EOs can and will simply be torn up.

Chief executives shouldn't be issuing EOs on basic freedoms either, we fought a war to get away from that kind of central authority.

Abbott is an anomaly. He does deep state things sometimes but then he does good things like this. I can’t wrap my head around why he’s only playing along with the CCP crap sometimes. Is he only under partial control and defecting to the bad stuff sometimes just to keep up appearances whenever it won’t break the Patriot endgame?

I think DeSantis and Abbott are only doing this for an election even though they know vaccine passports are going to get rammed through. Just wait. Everyone in the world will have to have vaccine passports.
