While I agree with the fact that it's just a movie bro and stop trying to overthink the plot, there is a lot of truth there. We spend so much time idiot proofing everything to the point that a monkey could run the machines that run the world. I expect if all the smart folks just disappeared and went to their own paradise, the rest of the world could coast for quite a while before things broke down completely. Which is the plot of the movie, the average guy woke up just about the time everything is falling apart.
