I went to Safeway to buy some alcohol and orange juice. I was waiting in line and the cashier tells me to wear a mask and I say no thank you. I ask him if he wants my business and tell him that if he doesn't want it then I will leave and go to another business. He then repeats that I have to wear a mask next time. I'm 22 and this bastard didn't even bother asking for my id yet asked me to wear a mask. After I did my purchase, I was leaving the store when a Karen employee asked me where my mask was. I ignored that bitch and walked out of the store. God these people are fucking stupid as hell. When will this shit end? How do I counter these bastards? I'm at California btw.

Probably not a Safeway issue. I live in a rural Colorado county and haven’t worn a mask into my Safeway all year and no one has said i thing. In fact, half the shoppers don’t wear masks and I have never seen anyone get any grief.
Regional managers usually send these dictates down to their stores. That's what my local Sprouts manager told me, and it makes sense.
They're literally paying a full-time employee to sit outside and sanitize shopping baskets.
Sanitization theater
We have those employees at Publix and other stores in FL. Still able to walk right in, shop, pay, and leave without a mask and nobody says a thing.
