I’ll keep this quick. My 8 year old daughter was locked in a room for at least 40 minutes at her school today because she was supposed to be quarantined. When I picked her up, she was so upset because nobody told her why or offered her anything to do. What’s my first steps? Contact the school board? Superintendent? I am livid. Keeping this vague for legal and security reasons. Thanks for any help.

First, I would get all the facts including written statements (or emails, text msgs) as to who was behind this lockdown and what the official stated reason is before you let them know you’re pissed or thinking about legal action.
Be concerned but cordial until you gather evidence because once you let them know you’re upset, they will lock all that shit down.
Once you have that, speak to the school supervisors and an attorney.
Record the statements. Check your state laws but in some states you only need permission from one party to record, or if the conversation is in a place where it might be overheard, you can record without permission also. Just turn on a recorder app on your phone and leave it running.
Contact a lawyer.
First thing, this.
Call the cops. Sounds like false imprisonment
I would seriously take her out of that school just my opinion not actual advice.
First take her out of the school. Second talk to a domestic attorney. Then DSS.
First of all, right down everything you know about the situation right now and date the document. Only include what you KNOW happened based on your and your child’s experience. Don’t include speculation or things you have heard from other people. Just the cold hard facts.
Then . . .
Talk to the school secretary to get the story of what happened first. Just tell her you are curious about the procedures and want to understand what happened and why. RECORD THIS CONVERSATION
If you don’t like what was done, ask to meet with the principal. Explain your concerns and tell this person you want to understand what happened and why. RECORD THIS CONVERSATION
If you are still not satisfied, reach out to the district superintendent with your concerns. If you actually get to talk to this person, RECORD THIS CONVERSATION
If this ever evolves to a legal situation, the only way you will win is with rock solid documentation of what they did, and why they claim they did what they did. If you don’t have that, it will just be your story against theirs and they will win.
Get a lawyer. Sue the everliving fuck out of that school.
If she was LOCKED in a room, call the fucking police.
Lawyer
win the day!
I had an issue with a school years ago and contacted an attorney. Scared the fuck out if the them.
Find the person who locked your daughter in a room and lock them up. Six feet deep.
