Won't this just move the Republican party over to the left? Something tells me John Lee isn't going to go full MAGA with this switch. Instead, he'll denounce socialism but keep a lot of the other beliefs he held as a democrat and slowly the party will move further and further left. This might be a trojan horse.

There was once a thing called 'Blue Dog Democrats.'
He might be one. They don't align perfectly with Republicans, but neither do most Republicans.
All we can do is watch what he does until the next time he's up for election.
