Why? That is the dumbest thing I've read all day. Is this really a problem? Are people really sitting on planes pissed off that their pilot isn't a black woman? I'm usually praying that I reach my destination safely.
I didn't even notice that at first, but yes, they're completely skipping the "diversity is strength"-argument. It's just about mirroring the passenger makeup. I wonder if the same logic would apply to taxis. "Hello, I'd like to order a cab. All the people on this trip will be white, straight men, so we would like our driver to reflect this, please".
Thank fuck these guys don't inhabit Australian skies. Black female pilots will be too busy Gorilla gluing their hair to notice little things like storms or other planes.
People who dont comprehend the lack of logical correlation in this statement have no business flying planes, or really anything of importance.

Any Airline (or any other business) that hires people based on physical characteristics that they have no control over rather than hiring the best and most talented people regardless of race or gender, they will never get a cent of my money.
Good luck with that since that seems like 90%+ of all companies these days.

IIRC United was the only airline to fill flights to capacity and not block middle seats to make people feel safe. They HAD that going for them.
