You don't even know this map has been around for awhile, and has been memory holed hardcore on the internet i.e. you can't just find it all willy nilly. All these places are not treacherous places a lot of them are very scenic gorgeous places..

It's common to name a scary or dangerous or barren place with some reference to the Devil. I wouldn't read that much more into it.
