As a mechanic of aircraft, I can tell you that once the first few incidents on the ground occur it won't be a long lasting program. When I say incidents I mean taxiing a wing tip into another jet or having some internal issues with other pilots. It won't go over well. Modern aircraft for commercial use can fly themselves. It will be the faults on the ground that will cause an issue. Not to mention that pilots already think they mightier than thou.
I hope that you’re correct. It is impossible to BS your way through a commercial multi-engine checkride, or the ATP. United could make a 121 line check disappear, but when one of their pilots gets into a serious ground incursion, with a carrier who doesn’t play these woke games, and it comes out that the United pilot has five failed checkrides, there will be noise.
Spot on and I would add that we could also see more conflict with passengers and captains too. Lots of people kicked off flights as they power trip and stuff.

I’ve heard horror stories from regional airlines...yikes
