Because while we were laughing at le crazy SJWs with pink hair in 2013 those people were able to get into very influential possitions across every aspect of society and then used the institutional power of those positions to transform the country into their ideal.
Meanwhile right wingers were still possessed by this doomer/quasi libertarian idea that holding institutional power was somehow beneath us and how we should just do our own thing and not even seek that.
