It's probably hard to find in any of the write-ups, but the first officer was a crappy pilot who was allowed to keep flying even though he repeatedly failed in his training. He was presumably allowed to keep flying even though he was a terrible pilot because he was black. He ended up putting a perfectly operational Boeing 767 into a smoking hole in the ground because he thought they were stalling and put the plane into a sudden nose dive, killing himself and the other two pilots.
