The only place an incandescent light was still useful is in a crawl space as a small heater to keep the pipes from freezing. After having to crawl around a 116 foot oil rig Derrick replacing fluorescent bulbs that burn out or having to unbolt and bring down the fixture to replace the ballast that burnt out, the switch to LED lights felt like a godsend. Switching to led from halogen on the rest of the rig buildings was also great, halogen lights we had had an enforced 10 minute “cool down/reset” safety feature where if you lost power or someone unplugged your light for a second and plugged it back in, you were in the dark for over 10 minutes while the cool down passed and then it went from dim to full brightness again.
