I saw this coming. I am surprised no one mentioned Robert Moses and our roads/bridges here in NY. The parkways out on long island all intentionally had hundreds of bridges constructed so the buses from the city couldn't bus out any 'riff raff'. His story is so damn interesting, and its only a matter of time before they start saying they must tear all these bridges down over racism.
This one is true. Very obviously happened in Oakland a few decades ago with repercussions today. The place that was cut off by the freeway was the same as the other side (downtown and mid town), but since has devolved into a poor and dangerous place unfortunately. It is sad because you can tell from the building style that these were the same area many years ago, but now one side is clearly nicer than the other, literally just as you cross the freeway.
Dismissing this one devalues the “now even ______ is racist” meme since this one was actually pretty racist if you read about the history from an unbiased source (re Oakland).
