As noted, this is from 1991. I don't mean this as a criticism, I mean it to illustrate that what was identifiably trauma/mental illness related 30 years ago had been normalized and glamorized today. Around that time I was treating transgender patients. There was a definite movement away from acknowledging and treating trauma to validating the patients beliefs. Weird politics.

Yes, I noted because I figured the year it was published was relevant to point out a contrast with culture in Current Year.

Pedestalizing mental illness, identity, and feelings over facts and compassionate, practical methods is killing us.
