Trivial? The Crown dissolved entire Judiciaries, leaving some colonial states without functioning court systems for 20 years. If you wanted a dispute addressed during this time, you had to go to the Crown appointed Governor. The Crown routinely dissolved colonial legislative assemblies whenever they didn't vote the way the Crown told them too. Writs of Assistance were issued to friends of the Crown to search any home, business, ship, etc, where the 'contraband' would be confiscated by those executing the Writ. The Crown instituted trade embargoes on the colonies, where they could only trade with Britain. Merchant ships were routinely impounded by the Royal Navy and suspected ships subjected to Writs of Assistance while in port.

None of that is trivial.

Comparatively speaking we are seeing history repeating itself but on a much grander scale. China is the new Crown

Our judiciaries and legislatures may as well be dissolved (see 2020 election)

I’d rather have no court than a fake one or a packed one working only for one side

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on China. Yes, they are a scary world power and the number 2 enemy of America and American Values. However, the new crown rests squarely on the Potomac and has for the last four decades. Many of our rulers there are owned by China, it is true, but few are outright Chinese operatives in the sense they care about the success or failure of the CCP. Most are motivated by greed (even the ones without silk shackles) and are more concerned with pillaging our country for their own benefit. China is just coincidentally the master that they serve.

So yes, China is, as one brave Taiwanese man so eloquently put it, 'asshoe', but we really need to put out house in order before we can even think about carpet bombing out neighbor's house back to the stone age.

Thank you for letting me know not everyone is an over emotional goofball.

The Brits also didn't decide to import millions of 'citizens' from the Dutch East Indies either, unlike what is going on now with DC and everywhere south of the border.

Joseph Sobran is grossly oversimplifying history here.

The king also refused to let the colonists arm themselves against Indian raiding parties during the French and Indian War, because he was paranoid they’d revolt in the future, so Indian tribes ravaged the colonies for years until the war ended. Even killing women and children.

And that was just the beginning of our problems with the crown.

So let me know when our government disarms us and lets the Mexicans fuck with us for a few years, while doing nothing. Then Joe here might have a point.

“So let me know when our government disarms us and lets the Mexicans fuck with us for a few years, while doing nothing.”

Yeah no way that would happen in America these days.

Our founding Fathers didn't have smart phones and Netflix and the internet either lol. But I agree. We live in a time where promoting one race over another is acceptable and if you don't agree then you are a racist bigot. Clown world

It's all about globalism vs nationalism.

The two are incompatible.

Two "-isms" go in, one comes out.

This is EXACTLY why the country needs to start killing politicians and anyone that supports them....like lawyers, judges and police. Rack up a few thousand political body counts and watch these cowards change their tune.....hypothetically.

14
Pancho_Lefty 14 points ago +14 / -0

George Washington woud've been stacking bodies by now.

Agreed!.....at night....on Christmas morning!

He would've started a hundred years ago at least.

StartAgain 6 points ago +6 / -0

back in 18th century this would happen

5
FreeSpeechMaster 5 points ago +5 / -0

And, hypothetically, why it is of utmost importance it start happening right now....by the thousands.

Traded a monarchy then for an oligarchy now. I think getting rid of the oligarchy is going to prove far more difficult than getting rid of the monarchy was.

Yeah that's a trash take on that time.

Britain clearly didn't declare independence and look at how much worse of a shit hole that place has become than the USA. People arrested for mean words online. Old men arrested for harming intruders into their own home. Thought crimes becoming real. Perpetual lockdowns.

King George might, might, not have been as bad as we are now, but as we are now is still far better than England is now.

The UK's much worse, in fact it looks like our political establishment views the dystopic UK as their guiding star because they keep copying those limey fucks.

In all fairness, pennies back then would equate to $1000's today, with nonstop inflation in the interim.

wtf I like king george now

E-dantes 4 points ago +4 / -0

Until he is blockading cities and starving their entire populations, housing soldiers in private homes, rounding up dissidents en masse, and confiscating arms by military force.

4
Junionthepipeline 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's next year.

I actually have surprisingly little tolerance, believe it or not. Truth be told I can sometimes come across as a complete jerk.

"Why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away?"

3
E-dantes 3 points ago +3 / -0

The powers that be are not yet housing soldiers in our homes, mass confiscating arms, arresting dissidents en masse, nor blockading cities and starving their populations. King george did.

I swear I HATE this narrative and it is incredibly ignorant. It WAS NOT ABOUT THE TAX AMOUNT. Hell, it was hardly about the TAXES. Ever heard of the Magna Carta? No? It was British law, very old British Law, that prohibited taxation without representation. He was taxing colonists yet they were allowed no seats in Parliament. This was a clear violation of law and the Crown would not budge.

The rallying cry was not "no taxes!'" ... it was "No taxation with Representation!"

Considering the current state of the UK with Covid and the police, 2 wars with Great Britain wasn't enough.

Meh... why don't we compare the present UK government to ours first. But I would be fine with going back to the 1776 population of blacks in America... Just say'n.
