Former teacher here.. ain’t happening. Standards and benchmarks issued from the state and teach to the state test. As leftist wokism comes down upon us, you are fighting a losing battle. It’s too late to fix public education. My life goal is to create a private, pro-America school that parents can send their kids to, either in person, or follow the curriculum online. It’s definitely doable. Liberty university is doing it at the college level with great success. I imagine there is an even bigger market for it at the primary and secondary education level.
I’ve met VERY few people effectively fighting the system from within it. Most of the time that is the story they tell themselves while actively enabling and upholding the system and collecting their paycheck and benefits.

I walked away from my Wall Street job in 2009 when I saw how the sausage was really made. There's no way I could have made as big of a difference from the inside as I have from the outside where my voice is much more unfettered.
There must be some resistance from within, or it will get worse faster. Thus far, the rights attempts to rein in public schools have failed tremendously. Public schools are permanent establishments, and it's foolish to think that will change. Until such time that schooling is optional everywhere, we cannot just abandon public schools.
Sure, there's a lot out of my control, but it's still important for my students to have at least one teacher who doesn't spew woke garbage. I teach my kids to value personal space, private property, individual choice and freedom, respectful skepticism of authority, and so much more. I am constantly told to teach equity propaganda and, every time, I choose not to. I teach the Bill of Rights instead (even though my content is science).
My district unfortunately lets kids get away with way too much, in many cases without the parent's knowledge. I have contacted parents who agreed with me that their own children should be punished, even though the school policy would not punish. Teachers make a difference.
I'm not likely to change your mind, but I know I have personally helped many kids get their heads on straight, and I know that they would probably be lost today if all conservatives refused to teach at public schools.
My wife was all gung to about doing this when she started teaching. She regularly spoke of hiding her powerlevel and making serious changes to the system from within. She quit teaching a bit over a decade later, saying there was no way to make any difference in all but a handful of children and that she sees absolutely no viable path to fix that even if she had lifetimes to do it. She's a private tutor now, and much happier.
Good for your wife. As a teacher, you can only affect the kids in your own classroom. You need to be an administrator/superintendent or Board of Ed member to actually make systemic change.

There really are some exceptional teachers out there, but IMO, most of them are useless, lazy slackers. It's a screw off job where you don't even work 9 months a year.
Exactly in some districts they can make 100k+ after they’ve been there for years. They cry about buying a box of pencils while they beg for higher taxes so they can take long vacations in the summer instead of getting a real job.

Never mind that my students absolutely love my class. Nevermind that every year I am the most requested teacher at my school. There are quite a few liberals in every profession. That doesn't mean we all are. At my school, there is exactly one staff member that voted for Biden. I know this for an absolute fact. None of us do anything whatsoever to indoctrinate students. We teach the curriculum that goes with our subject. Period. We don't have time to go on tangential rants about political bullshit. Blankets statements about how shitty every teacher is is getting real fucking old. I do not belong to any teacher's union. AFAIK, they aren't even legal in my state. I've taught for almost 17 years, and I can count on exactly 1 finger the amount of parents that have complained about me, and that was because I wouldn't bump a grade for their kid for them.
In Texas we have teacher associations that provide legal representation, but they are NOT unions. In fact, teachers are prohibited from striking. It really doesn't matter anyway, because the vast majority of us would come to work regardless, because we're not in it for the money.

Ex friend of mine is a tenored chemistry teacher in a school with metal detectors and constant police visits. She is one of the worst commies I’ve come across in my life.
There are options for private school and homeschooling that can provide an good education for your kids at a relatively low cost. You don't have to send your kids to $30k/year private school or leave them to themselves with a few books and call it homeschooling while they mentally rot. You can find low-cost, high-quality options, but you'll have to do some research and yes, you will have to sacrifice a bit. We have our boys in a distance-learning, accredited private classical christian school program with live teachers and it's costing us about $7k a year, with a 10 month payment plan option. Prior to this, we tried a local private school for a few years but it eventually became too expensive. We also tried a homeschooling program that my wife didn't like. We feel the distance-learning program has provided a better education than either private school or homeschooling, but it took us a bit of looking to find it. There are options for everyone, but you have to be committed and prepared to sacrifice and provide the best education you can with the resources you have available.

Homeschooling is not possible without a support structure, usually in the form of a family member with a decent education of their own and no need to work during the day. Too many based patriots rely on public schools to make it through the day and they supplement their kids education with experiences outside of school. Teach your kids to think for themselves and to question their teachers (even the based ones like me). Teach your kids to shoot and not to be a bunch of pussies. They can learn to read and do basic math even in a liberal heavy area. I grew up in that scenario and it still drove me to the right.

As a very conservative high school teacher in Texas, let me say this. Free speech is AMAZING! It's very useful in identifying people with solid well-informed opinions from people who think they know, but really don't.
When was the last time you were in public school? When was the last time you instructed a class? When was the last time you sold a product to 30 people who were adamantly opposed to purchasing everything you were selling?
Is my profession decidedly socialist and left wing? YES. I agree with you. Do I wish that government would get out of the education business and privatize the whole mess? You better believe it! The question then becomes, can you afford my services? Probably not. Health care costs would be a thing of the past, and skyrocketing education costs would dominate the conversation. Want proof? What's more important than your child's education? Uh-huh. And that's one of the reasons government provides public education.
Want a more conservative based education system? Go pressure your local school board. Heck, get elected to your local school board. Take an active role in your kids education. Don't agree with what they're teaching at your kids school? Golly, what a perfect time to explain to your kid why your family's values are better than those being taught in school. My kids know right from wrong because I taught them, not the people in the system that I'm a part of.
While the education system is rife with problems ( and there are MANY) I rarely hear anything being said about the failure of parents to parent their kids. Education is a partnership between you and your kid's teachers. You're more responsible for their education than I am, and frankly it's hard enough teaching 15 year olds without having to combat their parents.
