Executive orders aren't laws sooo they don't have to be followed. They are suggestions. That's why many of trump's were just ignored, because they have zero legal weight behind them.

Its more about how many will use the order to come take your stuff.

Right. Laws are ink on paper, EOs are ink on paper, all that matters is will the people with guns come and force you to follow them.

Funny enough, not giving up our own guns makes that possibility significantly lower.

Laws are ink on paper, EOs are ink on paper

To be fair, so is the constitution

Indeed. That's why our founders understood that the ultimate protector of liberty is force.

Or as A. E. van Vogt said:

The right to buy weapons is the right to be free.

More likely right now, they will keep retailers from selling you stuff.

And retailers have much more to lose, so will likely comply.

It's like what we see with the chinaflu mask stuff.

It's easy to say "Fuck you, I wont wear a mask!"

But it's much harder to say "Sure, I'll risk losing my 40 year old restaurant, my income, my house and family, to protest this mask law!"

They've gotten very good at squeezing the right people by the balls to keep all of us in line.

State Nullification has entered the conversation.

That is only partially true.

Executive orders are not laws. Regulations are also not laws.

A law has to be passed by both houses of Congress and signed by the president (or overridden by a 2/3 majority if he does not sign it).

However, they are not just suggestions either. The President is legally in charge the executive branch. They are the ones in charge of carrying out the law, and have massive leeway in “interpreting” how to carry out the law. If the President orders the ATF to go seize all the mean looking guns, or the ATF issues a regulation that bans all guns that look mean and scary, that is not a suggestion.

The fact that the entire government basically disobeyed Trump for four years (cough, deep state) doesn’t mean that his orders were suggestions.

Now if Biden issues an executive order and conservatives sue and get an injunction, that can prevent him from carrying out the order, but you know how well the judicial system has been doing their job lately (not well).

Thanks for the better explanation.

No gun laws have to be followed if they violate the Constitution.

Which is all gun laws.

Not entirely true; executive orders on foreign policy and federal protocol (in so far it relates to the internal actions and standards of federal agencies) are very much binding, as these are the natural domain of the Executive.
