When my cousin was in the military, the people who had the most trouble swimming were from urban areas. He called them "city rocks". Having problems swimming isn't really a black thing so much as it is a city thing.
I can kinda confirm this. One of my buddies was raised by a pretty middle-class family, spent most of his younger years in/around vancouver, and never picked it up despite being so close to the pacific ocean. Give him a saxophone and he can spend hours playing decent music, yet put him in even waist-high water and he nearly passes out due to fear.
How do you live there and. Or swim? Ho lee fuk. My family are like water babies. Just born into it swimming lessons as babies. They just LOVE the water.
Some people have no natural buoyancy either. I've had swimming lessons multiple times and still can't even float. Not sure why, both my parents can swim but I seem to have lead bones.
Skiing, rock climbing, mtn biking, skydiving, paragliding, BASE, even surfing.... I've met a few black folks that do each but not many. Usually they "leave that crazy shit to the whiteboys" or so I've been told.
There are cultural differences involved here. Why the fuck do these people feel they have to force involvement to appease their self inflicted white guilt?!
Sayso, a musician, who wrote the soundtrack to the film, is one of the few young people in the community who admits to liking swimming but that’s only because he grew up in Nigeria where, he says, it was a common activity.
When he moved to Peckham in London, aged 15, he was the only boy in his football team who swam to keep fit. “I was thinking, ‘Why don’t you guys swim?’ They’d be like, ‘I don’t want to, it’s too cold, it’s my hair, it’s this, it’s that.’ I’m thinking, that’s crazy!”
They literally expose this in the article, but monster truck right over it straight to social injustice.
David Goggins talked about this. Most black guys are negatively bouyant. Basically they sink in water.
And really, so what? So what if more white people swim? Black people win almost every single marathons. No shit that different people are better or worse at different things.
Also black people are like 15% of the US pop... of course you're going to see more white people and also for some reason blacks don't like swimming.... how many black Olympic swimmers can you name?
Black parents don't bother signing their kids up for swimming lessons.
Very few black children have the benefit of parents.
Many are raised, if you can call it that, by grandma. The same grandma who raised mom by herself.
It's not working great.
There's no government subsidies for that.

In my day mothers gave birth right into the lake. Helps to separate the weak from the fish.

'Corn Pop'?
Do you need an ID to get to public pool? In my city, you do, that might be the problem.

Can vouch for the rock climbing. Been doing it since 2011 and only met like 4-5.
Just be glad Biden wasn't the lifeguard. He made kids touch his leg hair. Cornpop wasn't allowed at the pool either, he was a baddude.

It is frightening how effective a moat can be for crime deterrence.
Bro not in my town. The city pool is like 80% black and latinos. The Latinos wear their shirts in the pool.
No ID = No Swim
Maybe he actually said “Swimming is so WET.”

The black females I know don't like to swim because it messes up their weaves and hair wraps, which cost a pretty penny and time in the chair...
The term "rockfish" is a thing that explains it.
Higher bone density vs bouyancy
Did anybody prevent him from swimming?
No?
Then what the fuck's he complaining about?
