When my cousin was in the military, the people who had the most trouble swimming were from urban areas. He called them "city rocks". Having problems swimming isn't really a black thing so much as it is a city thing.
I can kinda confirm this. One of my buddies was raised by a pretty middle-class family, spent most of his younger years in/around vancouver, and never picked it up despite being so close to the pacific ocean. Give him a saxophone and he can spend hours playing decent music, yet put him in even waist-high water and he nearly passes out due to fear.
How do you live there and. Or swim? Ho lee fuk. My family are like water babies. Just born into it swimming lessons as babies. They just LOVE the water.
