Never is a strong word. China has 1.44 billion people. That's roughly 4x our population. On top of that, they have far more MEN, and those men are forced to be manly and embrace traditional masculine roles.
Our military is headed by a senile commander in chief who can't process anything fast enough if there were an imminent threat or attack. To make matters worse, our military now has a bunch of SJW leaders within who care more about diversity than they do strength.
China can afford to waste people. Even if half their population were wiped out, they would be more than okay. We cannot. They also have a larger Navy than us too now.
Numerical superiority isn't always a deciding factor. Especially in a prolonged conflict. Strategy, technology (known and tech developed while at war) can make huge swings in favor of one side. Morale can also have a major impact on the results. People fighting for a government they don't really like on foreign ground is almost always doomed to failure.
