The system probably doesn't even allow you to be a good cop these days.
They'd pigeon hole you in a dead end position if they didn't fire you. Try to clean up the streets they reassign you to traffic duty.
It depends 100% on the local government. If the local government is based the police will be based. If local government is antifa the police will let antifa do anything they want.
Unfortunately you are right because good cops retire or move elsewhere. Philadelphia for instance now (or soon will be) will let people with misdemeanor convictions apply. They also got rid of credit checks because they were racist... With the old standard the department was probably close to half black already anyway.
They are chasing out every good cop left. It can't be accidental they are doing it on purpose.
