Don't bother looking at cases, the brazilian media (which is almost as bad as yours) decided that they would provide the number of cases instead of the government (they call it a "press companies consortium"). Even if our media isn't as vicious as yours, our state/administration and population's education is much worse, so relatively the media here has greater influence than yours do on America.

The only number that is really important is deaths. Deaths should trail cases (as in, people get sicker and a week or so later they die). You don't see that in the data, which points to this kind of manipulation to keep creating stories.

Also, we had extended holidays now during easter and some of the deaths haven't probably been accounted for (see how the weekends always register smaller numbers) and is probably in a backlog.

I like Bolsonaro. Is the establishment just smearing him because he’s a Trump-esque figure?

Bolsonaro is anti-establishment like Trump, but they have some stark differences.

Trump was famous, rich and a very well-liked person by the general public and an outsider in politics.

Bolsonaro was an army captain turned congressman relatively unknown by the general public during his ~25 years in congress, his voters were almost exclusively military (we don't have districts, we have state deputies and >20 parties, so very specific or "politicians of a single-issue" are viable).

The media smears Bolsonaro because he ran a under 500k USD campaign from his kitchen and won the presidency. That was a huge "fuck you" to big media because not only it hit them on the messaging (showing that they were disconnected with the population), it also hit them on the technical field showing the media expertise is dispensable. He cut back the government spending on advertisement (most media in Brazil were taking in huge sums from the federal government) and, just like in the USA media is concentrated in DC and NY, in Brazil they are also concentrated in the most bourgeoisie districts of the largest cities. In essence, they see Bolsonaro as an inferior humble guy who speaks like the common folk and wears fake football jerseys at home and who is not paying them to write nice pieces about.

They resent that he is not Trudeau, with the cologne, designer suits and make-up. And the thing the media likes better about Trudeau, being the insufferable illiterate pigs they are, is that it sounds french.

Look at this guy. He believes the numbers from google. He thinks covid should be taken seriously. He thinks we all need to do our part to keep each other safe.
