They're tacitly admitting the need for special supports (and restrictions) in order to effect some semblance of parity.
Now, imagine if the egos, and demagoguery, were removed and those special supports were apportioned where they'd have the greatest effect .. rather than just to palliate the unwarranted pride of its adherents.
And it doesn't take a genius to guess why they absolutely trashed Star Trek and turned it into the opposite of what it was. You can't have a meritocratic, post scarcity version of capitalism, where hard work and effort is rewarded while laziness and ineptitude is marginalized when you want the opposite to occur.
I'm waiting for them to try and blatantly retcon Tapestry to show that the alternate future where Picard was a cowardly, bumbling, and utterly unmotivated suckup to actually be the "positive" version and we were shown something that wasn't true! They already shit all over things like The Drumhead.
