They're tacitly admitting the need for special supports (and restrictions) in order to effect some semblance of parity.

Now, imagine if the egos, and demagoguery, were removed and those special supports were apportioned where they'd have the greatest effect .. rather than just to palliate the unwarranted pride of its adherents.
