The shot that they are calling a vaccine is simply mRNA that instructs your cells to make a protein that is present in the virus. The theory is that the immune system will get triggered to attack the protein, so that when the actual virus shows up, the immune system will be ready. Unfortunately, the protein is also part of other structures, like human placentas. Also, the possible epigenetic effects of introducing outside mRNA are entirely unknown, and could take long time periods to show up in unpredictable ways.
