Reality is the exact opposite. There is no hard demarcation line for race. Most white Americans and black Americans who aren't recent immigrants are partially mixed race.
Sex, however, does not have an almost infinite amount of combinations. In fact there's 2 categories that cover 100% of living humans: do you have a functioning y chromosome or not. XY, XXY, XXXY are all males.
