Leaves me wondering what kind of room there might be to slip in to the old market of just selling products to people who just want to buy and be done without bothering with a service.
Motorcycle manufacturers are doing similar shit too. I have a KTM and if I want, say, my quickshifter to be enabled or I want to be able to do wheelies, i get to pay to unlock these features.
I'm not buying any new physical equipment that needs to be installed as the motorcycle is already perfectly capable of doing these things straight from the factory....I'm just paying upwards of $1000 to unlock them.
I have a 2019 BMW (leased) and oh my god do I regret that thing. Everything except the heads up display I would honestly just rather not have.
I’m buying a beater once the lease is done.
Eh. I dislike new cars anyways. Too much electronic shit that breaks and too expensive.
I got an old beater that runs great.
And getting expensive AS FUCK
GM apparently wants to have a business mode where you buy the car, but the car keeps selling you add ons... like a smartphone.
I just want to get from A to B safely, as efficiently as I see fit, and without being sold a fucking burrito
Yeah I told the salesman when I bought my last car that I didn’t want any screens in my vehicle
Do manufacturers even make cars without screens now?
Omg I fucking FUCKING LOATHE subscription BS and "creation" of super gay "new revenue stream" fucking the customer as hard and dry as possible.
And it's happening everywhere.

They're following Tesla's lead. Tesla is a laptop with wheels, and you pay extra to unlock features.

Paid that for a 2012 TOMOS, carbureted straight from the crate and backfitted points magneto
IRL DLC
Well that depends. Is it a breakfast burrito?
That's why they want regulations and these "climate" regulations. The goal is to make it expensive.
Was it made by a diverse workforce of 50% women and people of color? That will be mandatory soon.
