Those dumb faggot CEOs at the automakers deserve this after they told Trump not to relax the emissions standards on them. They can all go bankrupt.

Can't wait for the headlines in a decade about all of our water supplies being tainted from lithium ion batteries in junk yards leaching into the ground water.

They don't want to relax the emissions on purpose. The cars will be more expensive, and their revenue and profits will be higher.

That's not really the case. Developing the new emissions-compliant cars is really expensive and most of the additional costs can't be passed on to customers. The least efficient vehicles in a fleet (trucks and SUVs) are by far the most profitable.

The reason companies wanted it is because they all want to move to EVs. Every developed nation is throwing billions at subsidizing EVs. Tesla sells a car that should cost 30k based on its quality and cost to build, but they charge 45k+ for it because the government picks up the difference.

If Tesla was even close to as efficient at manufacturing as GM or Ford, they'd be the most profitable company on Earth. That's why companies want strict emissions. Because EVs are fucking trash if you don't live in a city and rarely leave it. The only way they can sell tens of millions of EVs is if superior gas-powered cars become so hard to make and so expensive that they are not a reasonable option.
