Honestly the only difference is socialism adds Marxism to communistic economic structures, while communism does not apply Marxism at all.

Fundamentally they are the same when you go down to the basis of what makes up both ideological systems on a structural level and economic level.

That is how anything injected with Marxism always ends so your not wrong when it always end in a power vacuum turning into communism.
