The pistol brace thing is laughable. On an AR pistol, without a brace you just have an exposed buffer tube. As long as that brace isn't on the tube, it's doubtful it's breaking any rules and if you are at the range with a braced AR and see the cops coming you can just take it off before they show up.
My mother in law insists she can just put on her seatbelt before the cops get to her car, but also complains about how manyb tickets she's gotten for not wearing a seat belt. Cops generally have eyes and reasonable intelligence.
