Had a real bad one once, not from any cruise (fuck that shit), utter misery for three days straight, anything and everything tries to eject itself from your body at both ends, and you can't/don't want to eat, have to force yourself to drink, pretty much just lie there praying for it to be over.
Fuck, the times I had surgery were infinitely better than that. Slower recovery sure and the painkillers can be a bitch (especially the opiods, they kill your appetite and the feeling is really unpleasant), but nothing compared to the condensed misery of that stomach bug.
Yeah I've had some bad stomach viruses. You feel like you're going to die for a day or two and then it takes a couple days to get back to full strength.
Cruises are human Petri dishes even without covid. Let the people who want to venture set sail on a voyage of luxury and wonderment.
Seriously everyone knows the risks at this point. If you're worried about COVID, then don't go.
I'd take covid any day over stomach bugs.
